Spencer was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began training at the age of eleven, studying under Linda Muir-Finney. He has won numerous competition awards including top three high scores at Youth America Grand Prix, Chicago. Spencer has trained with The San Francisco Ballet School, The Harid Conservatory, and The Juilliard School during summers. He graduated early from the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists to study with The LINES Ballet Repertory Ensemble. Spencer earned his BFA at The Juilliard School and is a member of NDT2
